While much of the buzz around literacy has been relegated to the Science of Reading, what about the Science of Writing? Building on what we know about how students acquire literacy skills and how we learn to read and write, this session focuses on the ways in which explicit teaching of writing skills and genres can help build strong and skilled writers. Reading and writing work together in tandem, thus focusing on the ways in which these skills intersect can help learners improve their comprehension, fluency, and knowledge of how written and spoken language function. Learn how to capitalize on decades of literacy research to build effective instructional lessons and frameworks for student achievement and success.
